Presentation

There’s a correlation between all the days and conferences. For European Christians life is not easy today. That’s why we choose the main theme: «Who helps us be Christian in today’s Europe?» We are no theorists. We have an example to set and a mission to fulfil. We have to begin with a present witness of faith.

For us Catholics, Pope Franciscus is the one God gave us for this day. He suggests us not to be afraid of the dialogue with others. Starting from the base: being ourselves practising Christians, being witnesses of Jesus. With that we have some problems in our Church. Because many Christians have the attitude of the older brother of the parable. They are members of the Church but don’t welcome other people who are not like them. In order to be able to make the next step we are going to discover each one’s dignity, aware that does not result from the fact that today we are members of the Church but that we are a human person created by God. These reflections should enlighten us on “How come out of our shell” and to reach out to others simply by living as Christians.

At the beginning of their speech, each speaker must present three main ideas of their topic to everyone. There will then be half an hour for questions and an initial exchange of views with the entire audience.

Michael Dymyd

To work on the topic
  • Pope Francis: Who He Is and What His Vision Is – Prof. Paul Zulehner
We chose the Pope because he is the church leader who most courageously offers concrete steps for practical Christian living under current secular conditions.
  • The Parable of the Prodigal Son – Prof. Halyna Teslyuk
This is one of the most famous parables of the Gospel according to Saint Luke (15, 11-32), which refers to the relationship between God and people. We will focus primarily on the person of the eldest son, whose hardness of heart prevents him from welcoming his different brother into the family, contrary to his merciful father.
  • Who will help us to be Christians in today’s Europe? – Rev. Mychajlo Dymyd
    The dignity of every person
One of the greatest challenges for Christians today is to go out to the peripheries to bring and propose the love of Christ without restrictions.
