Christians to build Europe

The value of faith for today’s society.

To work on the topic

The courage of faith in today’s society (2 Tm 1,7)

Paul of Tarsus is a fascinating character. He has lived a fundamental experience: the personal encounter with the Risen One. This experience has given a new orientation to its existence. He has discovered that the love of God is offered to everyone, without exception. This is why we recognize him as “the Apostle of the Nations.”

The figure of Paul can inspire the missionary impulse that the Church needs today. In the context of cultural and religious pluralism in Europe, it calls us to root our faith in the personal encounter with the Risen One. It invites us to create the conditions to live this experience in Church. It encourages us to share the “gift the most precious” that has been given to us to build a more beautiful world, more fraternal, more habitable for all. This gift is the communion of human beings with the Father, through Christ and in the Spirit (Instrumentum laboris n°46).

The next European parish colloquium will be from 7 to 12 July 2013 in the heart of the Mediterranean: in Malta, a country uniquely confronted with some major challenges such as migratory flows and relations with North Africa. Once again, it will be an opportunity for Christians from about fifteen European countries to question their contribution to the construction of Europe. This positive opening expresses as much as it favors the humanization of this world and, making its way, the anticipation of “a new heaven and a new earth” (Rev 21:1).

In order to prepare this colloquium, participants are asked to reflect on these three questions from the national delegations:

Please send your answers, before March 15, 2013, to your delegates

Question Mellieha 2013
